Dear Friends,

We are immensely grateful to so many distinguished individuals as well as multiple professional and academic societies in helping us and collaborating with our Hong Kong College of Paediatricians to put together such an amazingly rich and diverse scientific programme for the 13^th Congress of the Asian Society for Pediatric Research.

The scientific programme comprises more than 120 invited lectures delivered by over 100 speakers, which cover “From Genes to Communities”, connecting basic, clinical and community-based research, in order to ensure “Excellence in Child Health” is firmly at the centre stage. This is only feasible with the contribution of the distinguished invited speakers as well as many local and nonlocal sponsoring societies. The non-local societies include Asia Pacific Society for Immunodeficiencies (APSID), Chinese Pediatric Society (CPS), Japan Pediatric Society (JPS), ROTA Council and Viva-Asia Blood and Marrow Transplant (VABMT) Consortium. Nearly all the local societies engaged in paediatrics and paediatric nursing are either sponsors or supporting organisations of the Congress. We are truly grateful for their staunch support.

Over 1,600 abstracts were submitted to the Congress and each of these abstracts was scored by multiple reviewers independently. More than 500 were selected for either oral presentation, poster walk or poster presentation based on their aggregate score. Many of these submissions are of very high quality and a number of these will be awarded the Young Investigator Awards and/or Travel Awards. Best oral abstracts and poster walk will also be selected during the Congress. We sincerely wish exciting discussion could accompany these presentations as progress depends on exchange of ideas. Last but not least, I would wish to thank all the members of our Organizing Committee and various committees for their hard work in ensuring the success of the 13th Congress of the Asian Society for Pediatric Research. Dear Friends,

After working hard for the past 3 months, we have now put together a vibrant, exciting and embracing Scientific Programme, in collaboration with many regional and national societies, including the Asia Pacific Society for Immunodeficiencies, ROTA Council, Japan Pediatric Society, as well as many local paediatric societies.

The breadth and depth of the programme is truly amazing, reflecting the spirit of our slogan “From Genes to Communities – Excellence in Child Health” for this 13^th Congress of Asian Society for Pediatric Research.  There will be a spread of emphasis in our programme connecting genetics to clinical practice, individual patients to entire communities, personalized medicine to global health policy, practice issues in less resourced environment to the most technologically advanced interventions.  The programme reflects the enormous diversity of our continent, which demands us to come up with a creative approach, to have a balance.

We have now invited more than 90 speakers to deliver over 110 lectures in plenary sessions and concurrent symposia.  Moreover, there will be 4 pre- and post-Congress Workshops/School focusing on stem cell transplant, rotavirus vaccine, bioinformatics, and primary immunodeficiencies respectively.  Of course there will be poster and oral presentations, with the award winning Best Abstracts presented on the last day of the programme.  We need your support, and please register now and submit your abstracts, the deadline has been extended until the 7^th July. Dear Friends,

Our Hong Kong College of Paediatricians has been given the honor to host the 13^th Congress of the Asian Society for Pediatric Research (ASPR) from October 6^th to 8^th 2017.

We are now planning an exciting scientific programme for promoting research across disciplines and countries, in order to achieve Excellence in Child Health.  Therefore the programme shall be emphasizing on building up the research interest, capacity and networking in Asia, which is the long-term goal of the Asian Society for Pediatric Research right from the beginning of her inception back in 2005.  We realize this goal will need perseverance and collaborative spirit among nations, regions, and disciplines to be realized.

For the ASPR 2017 Congress, we will invite colleagues from different Asian countries and regions to come together to design focused symposia, clinicians and scientists to present their research findings as well as organize pre- and post-Congress Workshops to promote research capacity and education.

We shall constantly update the webpage to inform you how the scientific programme is being developed.  Please inform us how you would wish the programme be developed in the next few months.
